Motherboard replacement cost and lifespan
Hello,
I would like to understand the approximate cost of a motherboard replacement for my laptop.
Model: Dell XPS 17 9700

CPU: Intel Core i7-10750H
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti 4GB
Could someone from the community or Dell experts clarify:
What is the typical cost range for this specific motherboard (i7-10750H + GTX 1650 Ti)?
Under normal conditions, what is the expected lifespan of a motherboard in this model?

$300-400 depending on warranty (higher end at retail with a 1-year warranty); the design life of a notebook is three years, but any individual sample is subject to variance. Most boards you find will be used -- meaning the history matters more than the design life.
Add whatever an hour's labor costs where you live if you don't change the board yourself.

I bought the Dell XPS 15 9530 in August 2024. Motherboard was replaced in Oct 2024 ($600) by Dell tech, and now again in May 2026 need another new Motherboard ($450 + tax). Would never buy Dell again. I have had an ASUS since 2020 with no issues.
