Latest Support Recovery Tool update causes critical error (Event ID 41) on XPS 15 9530
I installed the latest Support Recovery Tool update via DELL SupportAssist this morning, and all of a sudden, my laptop shutdown with a critical error about once an hour.
Took a look at the minidump file in WinDbg, and the culprit is
0xEF_DellSupportAss_BUGCHECK_CRITICAL_PROCESS_66e49080_nt!PspCatchCriticalBreak
As far as I could tell, that's the Support Recovery tool process, so I uninstalled both *Support Recovery* programs.
Checking the Activity log in Dell Support Assist, I see two Blue Screen Errors for which the time matches when the machine shut down and the minidump filetime - although I have had a total of 5 crashes.
Hopefully DELL will see the reports (there are two report ids listed).
For now, I am turning off the Dell Support Assist service as well, and hopefully DELL will fix this asap.
