Laptop XPX 17 Bleeping Sound
XPS 17 9710
I’ve into a small problem with my Dell XPS 17.
A few weeks ago, the laptop jammed for a few moments and emitted a beeping sound - four beeps, repeated several times - before the laptop started again. I ran Support Assist and a number of other tools, installing updates and checking for viruses and suchlike, but the problem repeated itself twice in the last two weeks.
Can anyone explain why this is happening, and how to fix it?

That indicates possible memory problems. Try reseating the RAM although it may require RAM replacement. Run diagnostics, F12 at boot, and watch for any RAM errors.

I’m not sure how effective that was - I ran the memory checks, as suggested, and no errors were found, although the jamming/bleeping problem hasn’t reoccurred since then. Are there any other possibilities?
Thanks
Chris

@ChrisNeedsHelp12 Did you reseat the RAM before the diagnostic check? If not I would suggest doing that.

@ChrisNeedsHelp12 This page on the service manual here explains the procedure. Basically remove the back cover, uninstall the RAM modules, then reinstall them. If you are unsure of the procedure you could have a local computer tech do it for you. Make sure you disconnect the adapter before reseating the RAM.
