Laptop screen on 5560 has stopped working when external monitors are attached

Precision 5560

Precision 5560

Dell 5560 laptop screen doesn't work when the external monitors are connected, and the laptop screen does not show (in Win10) when looking in display properties. When disconnected, the screen still does not respond. The light in front of the mouse pad flashes white 7 times, then after a short pause, flashes orange twice. I red somewhere that FN + F8 should switch between internal and external screens, but that doesn't work on my 5560. I'll add the camera on the laptop screen still works fine, but the screen itself stays black. I updated all the drivers using Dell's tool, and the screen came back on, then I rebooted and it was back off again. Is there a key combo or other setting accidentally set here? Any insight from the # and colors of the flashing lights?

Thanks for the reply.   Evidently the flashing lights (2 amber, then 7 white)  are a code that the LCD screen is non-functioning. I am hoping it is only a loose cable, but the internal diags are saying there is a physical issue with the screen so it isn't a software issue after all. I will continue to use it until I can bring it into the office and have it looked at, as the camera still works for meetings, and I have 2 external monitors.

This may seem obvious, but you didn't say you checked it, so:

Press the Windows key and P key to open Projection settings, to extend display to another screen, mirror/duplicate screen, etc. Since you want both screens to display, you would want either Duplicate or Extend.
