Laptop battery draining too fast — any advice?

Hi,

My Dell laptop’s battery has started draining very quickly, even with light use like web browsing. I’ve tried adjusting power settings, closing background apps, and updating drivers, but it hasn’t helped. Battery health still shows as normal in BIOS, so I’m not sure if it’s a software or hardware issue.

Has anyone faced this before or found a fix? Any tips would be appreciated.

Well I will suggest you to check the program running in the background and close the software which are running unnecessary and also try a good pc optimizer software, also check the battery health as well.

What model system (XPS 7590 etc) and how old is the battery?

Run a power report:

Open a command prompt with admin privilege and type

powercfg /batteryreport

What is are the current and design capacities of the battery?

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll run the powercfg /batteryreport and compare the design vs. current capacity to see if the battery has degraded, and I’ll also double-check background processes again.

It’s a Dell system, and I use it daily, so figuring out whether this is battery wear or a software drain is really important. I’ll share the battery report details shortly.
