Issue with Dell XPS 9320 IR Camera for Face ID in Low-Light Conditions
I am experiencing an issue with the infrared (IR) camera on my Dell XPS 9320 laptop. The camera works for Windows Hello Face ID under normal daylight conditions but fails to function in low-light or artificial lighting environments. This limits the use of Face ID, as it cannot recognize my face except under specific lighting conditions.
To troubleshoot, I have tried the following steps:
1. Checked Camera Settings: I reviewed the camera settings in Windows and confirmed that it’s set as the primary camera for Windows Hello.
2. Tested Using Smartphone Camera: I attempted to detect the IR camera activity by viewing it through my smartphone camera but did not observe any visible IR lights.
3. Updated Drivers: I updated the drivers via Device Manager and checked for additional drivers on the Dell Support website. However, this did not resolve the issue.
4. Examined Device Manager: I ensured there are no warnings or errors listed under “Biometric Devices” or “Cameras” in Device Manager. The device appears as “AVStream Camera,” but I cannot confirm if this supports the IR function required for Face ID.
Could you please provide further guidance, or suggest any additional steps I might try?

Hi, I am facing an exact similar issue like you and the face detection on my dell xps 13 plus 9320 only works in the day light but fails to function in low-light or artificial lighting environments. Were you able to find the solution to this ?
