Intel Management Engine Components Installer

XPS 15 7590

XPS 15 7590

Today 17th Dec.22 , on Win 11, Dell Support Assistant offered an update called:

Intel Management Engine Components Installer 2141.15.0.2511 which has a release date of the 15 March 2022!

Which has never shown up in the updates before, and appears to be for Win 10 and not Win 11

I have not changed any setting in the Support Assistant so I dont know why, all of a sudden, this out dated driver is being offered.

On trying to install it today there was a pop-up notice to say that the drivers ALREADY installed on this computer are newer than the ones which are trying to install

Can someone please investigate further?

Many thanks,

M

The version you referred to is actually from January 2022 and is for both Windows 10 and 11. However it is not the newest. The newest is 2229.3.16.0, A11 and is dates October 2022 and available here. I am not sure which version you have but I would not suggest the older version seeing as how a much newer version is available.

Make note of the following on that page: The chipset driver must be installed before installing this update. So be sure that you have the newest chipset driver installed as well.

And Dell SA has a habit of occasionally offering "updates" that are older then currently installed drivers.

As mentioned, there is a newer version.  Keep in mind, there is a note that the latest chipset drivers need to be installed first.  The listing below appears to be the latest chipset drivers from 2020.  Verify you have at least those.

Also, when you look for drivers, are you entering your Service Tag, which is not to be made public?  In some instances, more than one version of a system configuration is available.

I have also seen those Management Engine installers showing up on my ASUS motherboards.  From the info, it does install several components, so perhaps it does more than just install the basic Management Engine components.

I think there must have been gremlins in the Dell Support Assistant this morning

I have just run it again and now it says everything is up to date

Thank you all for responding
