I have a Dell XPS 9500 that won't turn on

I have a Dell XPS 15. I bought it a few years ago and it came without a service tag. At the beginning there were no problem. But overtime it got worse and worse. Almost every time I restart it, it goes into manufacturing mode and it tends to overheat a lot. But I got used to it. Recently, I started to have more issues, there are times when it doesn't recognize its own charger. A few months ago I was forced to change its battery. Last night I went to sleep with it working ok. But now when I just woke up I realized the laptop won't open , I try to press everything, the only thing that happens is the light is turning orange when I press the power button. What do I do.

Disconnect the power and disconnect the battery from the mainboard.  Hold the power button for 30 sec.

Verify that the LED on the DC side of the adapter is ON before you plug in the notebook end.  If it's not, replace the adapter with an OEM Dell unit.

Plug in just the adapter and see if the system will boot (battery disconnected).  If it will, try with the battery connected.  If the system will power up without but not with the battery, the battery is bad.

If the system does not power up on AC only, it's very likely the mainboard is bad.

If the system does power up, it's likely due for a thorough internal cleaning and replacement of the thermal pads -- that should also help the overheating issue.

I'm having the exact same issue with an XPS 13 (9300) - see other thread
