Your model should be able to work with the battery removed and the adapter used alone. That makes the laptop a desktop replacement. Beware--lots of scams with replacement batteries. That computer is a 4 yr old model that does not have new batteries available from Dell anymore. Batteries don't last even sitting in a warehouse or on a shelf.
