Faulty Dell power cord misleading Laptop into thinking battery health is zero
XPS 17 9700

Hi, for the second time in a row, Dell has misdiagnosed a battery problem with my laptop. Each time I correct their mistake costs me almost 80 dollars. About once a year, I will plug in my power cord/adapter and something (who knows what) tells the adapter that something is wrong, or tells the laptop something is wrong with the adapter (who knows?) and power doesn't get to the battery. Dell then misdiagnoses this as Battery Health is down to zero and tells me to go through the expense (and slight danger) of replacing the battery. I buy another power adapter instead, and voila, the battery works fine. Here's the big irony: once iI do that the original power adapter also charges fine. They system just needs a big software fix or reboot. There's nothing wrong with either the battery or the adapter, aside from Dell being mischievous and telling them not to charge or that they are dying/dead. Why won't Dell fix this costly bug in their system?
