Enable fingerprint access on XPS 13 9380
I have enabled the access via fingerprint from the control panel, and the system recognizes my finger, however when I login I only see the option to enter my PIN code. Even just laying the finger on the power button does nothing.
Thank you.

Okay so I just looked at my XPS (which has a fingerprint reader) and noticed some things I need you to tell me / try. Do you only have one account on the laptop and is it an MS account or local account? The option to remove the PIN as a sign in option is greyed out on my system. It is not on yours. There is an option if you scroll down in the window which you screenshotted. It says "For improved security, only allow Windows Hello sign-in for MS account on this device..." is it on or off? Also you can try removing your finger and readding it (let me know if this changes anything).

Did you add the fingerprint through Control Panel or Settings?

I added it from "Accounts > Sign-in options".

Okay so inside of settings. Could you take some pictures of everything that is going on? Such as a screenshot of the settings you described and a screenshot of your lock screen (since that is the issue)?

On the lock screen I only see date and time, and when I press the "enter" key I get a field to enter my pin code, and a "sign-in options" button. If I click on that button I can only choose between pin and password.
Here's a screenshot from the settings.
Thank you.

Just checking-- Did you special order the fingerprint reader when you bought the computer? That is an optional feature. It is not standard on that model.

Thank you, I removed and re-added the finger, and that did the trick. Weird.

removing and readding is sort of the same as turning it on and off lol (common IT trope). Glad I could help.
