Dell XPS M170 Battery problem

I have a Question about my Dell XPS M170 Battery

I plugged it in it is now full charged and all the green lights confirm that  so I unplugged it and powered it on it ran for about maybe 20 mins and then died, I checked the lights all lights are still green I push the power button again and still nothing

I took it over to the charger and plugged it in it powered on

So why does the battery and Windows say it is fully charged but the laptop won't run off the Battery but will when plugged it

The battery is not holding a charge.  This system is about 21 years old -- how old is the battery?  If it's more than 2-3 years old, it's dead.

It may not be easy to find a new replacement battery for such an old system.

If the seller provided a warranty, contact them for an exchange.  If the battery isn't holding a charge, it needs to be replaced.

would the cold weather cause that or just bad cells

so it would not be a motherboard problem than

OK I just tried the battery in my other Dell M170 and does not shut down still running so is it a motherboard problem or maybe a software problem
