Dell XPS 9530 Charging Issue Caused by BIOS Update
I updated my BIOS from version 1.9.0 to 1.13.0 on July 24th. The battery has never had issues charging before this. Now the battery has refused to charge twice and the only way to fix it was unscrewing the laptop, disconnecting the battery, holding down the power button until the CMOS cleared and then finally reconnecting the battery. Once I did that it will charge again. I am using the original battery charger that it came with, and I have tried another Dell charger from my XPS 13 when the issue occurs, and another few random USB-C laptop chargers in the office. It will refuse to charge from any of them once this issue occurs until I perform the steps listed above. I am running Linux (specifically Debian 12) on this laptop which I hope is irrelevant and the issue seems to even occur when the laptop is just in the BIOS screen (as in it still refuses to charge when at the BIOS screen where one can change settings) so I don't think it is OS specific. Is there anything that I can do in order to fix this issue? Otherwise if this happens again I may see if I can downgrade my BIOS version. Please let me know if there is any information that I can gather to assist your software team in discovering the issue that caused this regression.
