Dell XPS 9320 IR/Windows Hello facial recognition

So long story short, got on an airplane, put laptop in m,y backpack, when landing my facial recognition didn't work anymore. I'm like, oh, great, a chsance to test support assist. Every IT guy I have been matched with is telling me my system was outfitted with only an rgb camera, which I know what that means. They're saying it wouldn't be capable. But, then how did my system do facial recognition beforehand in the first place. And when it did, the camera module would flash red from both sides, like an IR emitter would look like. I have found another thread here, and on reddit about IR emitters not working anymore and have sent them to my chat instance but they all say my camera is just RGB which I don't understand. It had windows hello facial recognition.
