DELL XPS 17- 9700 HDR no longer turning on in win 11 settings
I was hoping you could help me out with a techinocal issue as I am having little luck elsewhere.
This HDR certificate is no longer listed on my laptop.
The HDR option in Windows 11 Settings says off.
if I toggle it on the screen turns black for about 2 seconds , and then the display is normal but the HDR toggle is listed as OFF.
I employed the Dell online diagnostic hardware tool, which says all is well.
I have updated all drivers.
I have checked the Nvidia Graphics and control panel for any conflicts.
Running Windows 11, Dell XPS 17 9700.
Online troubleshooting in general is suggesting to adjusting a line in the Windows registry. But I am wondering if there is a simpler and more direct option.
HDR has worked fine on this Laptop model in the past so I am curious what has happened.
Any diagnostic suggestions or constructive assistance is much appreciated!

It sounds like a driver or Windows update issue—try reinstalling your display driver (Intel + NVIDIA), ensure Windows HDR settings and NVIDIA Control Panel match, and test after a clean boot before editing the registry.

I am having the same issue on my laptop. I have the same laptop dell xps 9700. I think it started happening after the latest BIOS update (1.36.0). But I maybe wrong. All the drivers (Intel + NVIDIA) are up-to-date.
HDR was always on and had no issue until recently. Running windows 11
Any troubleshooting steps/fix are high appreciated.

Same here. I have a dell xps 9700 and with the latest Windows update, HDR turns on for 2 seconds then goes off. No solution anywhere. Reinstalled everything from scratch (OS and drivers). The Older version of Windows 11 works fine. After the update. Nope. If anyone has guidance on this, please assist.

@EmmaBarr didn't work. Did just that. Even reinstalled windows. HDR was working. Then as soon as Windows 11 updates, HDR stops.
