Dell XPS 15 9520 not working with 5120x1440 resolution monitor

Hi, I've recently bought a Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED 49''. It has displayport, microhdmi and hdmi inputs. Display port is used by my personal pc and I wanted to connect my work laptop which is a Dell XPS 15 9520 using the microhdmi port. When i do it the maximum resolution it gets is 3840x2400 but its not showing 5120x1440 option. How can I achieve this resolution having in mind that this laptop only has thunderbolt3 ports?

It is the way the system is designed.  Some systems have true discrete GPUs that can operate independently (the Alienware systems, many Precision workstations and the 17" XPS models with the top-end GPUs like the 4080 do).  Others (Inspiron, G-series, XPS 15s) do not.

No, there is no way around the way the system board is designed.

The Irix Xe GPU controls the video on the system (even if it has an nVidia GPU) and that Intel GPU is limited to 4096X2160 over HDMI.

The GPU can do higher resolutions over Displayport, but not HDMI.

I share this exact problem. Why is the intel GPU limited in this way ? Is there no way around it? @ejn63

The Dell 9520 will happily drive a Samsung at 5120 x 1440 but only through DisplayPort over USB-C/Thunderbolt.
