Dell XPS 15 9510 Keystroke Delayed Displaying for 3 different keys in Win Pro11

Purchased the laptop recently. Laptop works fine apart from 3 keys that doesn't display what have been typed immediately after keystroke. Error might be as a result OS not interacting properly with keyboard device driver or some device management issues. Don't know.

Within the BIOS Diagnostics the keyboard has ZERO errors and works 100% registering every time those keys are pressed. Ruling out keyboard hardware or Bios Firmware issues. Back in Win 11 Pro when typing in Notepad, Browser, Office or any other App the following keys don't show immediately after typing but ONLY until another or the same key is pressed.

The delayed display of the keys are;

  1. The “^” circumflex symbol or HAT symbol key together with the “6”; The “6”work 100% on the same key, no problem.

  1. The Tilde Key “~” as well as Grave Symbol key “`” on the same key

  2. The Double Quotation Mark “and Single Quotation Mark 'on the same single key.

These 3 keys don't display only until anther or the same key are typed/used afterwards. If the same key is pressed it displays in pairs. The same key records and holds back on displaying until the same key is pressed for a second time. Resulting in displaying the characters in pairs. Implying that the keystrokes are registered/recorded but doesn't display promptly until, another or the same key is pressed resulting in that keystroke and the current keystroke displaying/presenting at the same time.

Assuming your purchase of this used system had a warranty, return the system to the seller for a refund.

Should have said the laptop was purchased initially in June 2022. Should also have mentioned that it has a 4K Touch screen with virtual keyboard option. Using that onscreen touch keyboard the exact problem occurs with the same 3 keys – implying that it can not be a hardware issue with the keyboard confirming the BIOS diagnostics. I suspect faulty firmware driver possibly? Some guidance would be great.

Issues Resolved! Need to mention that initial setting up the laptop for the first time in Jan 2025 after 2nd hand purchase and starting it up it wanted to do several driver updates as well as Bios firmware update. Maybe this multiple driver updates caused the issue in the first place???

Nonetheless, fast forward to today, after I experience the keystroke issue I decided to boot with Win 10 Pro install/setup USB, thus eliminating any Win 11 Pro drivers or DELL drivers being loaded. The resulted in every keystroke working 100% as intended confirming no HARDWARE issue as I assumed from the start. Decided to do a complete factory reset “from the initial factory restore image from 2022“. Ensuring local user setup with ZERO internet connection during initial installation, resulting in zero driver updates whilst the setup is being performed. The result was laptop worked 100% with no keystroke issues. After running driver update assistant from Dell Official Website only 2 drivers needed to be updated. Updating these (PCI and some Intel management driver) was updated. It didn’t affect keystroke functionality or any other issue. Laptop is working 100% NOW. (:>)
