Dell XPS 15 9500 Motherboard crashed

I have a Dell XPS 15 9500 laptop. The warranty expired in March 2022. Its motherboard crashed in July 2022. In any case, this model has been the most faulty laptop I have used with poor design (laptop lid constantly shakes), and heating issues. I am trying to find a replacement for the motherboard which Dell customer care said is not in stock. I am totally stuck with this laptop which has/had premium price tag. Any suggestion on how to get a replacement motherboard and get this piece of really poor quality laptop functional so that I can transfer data from its ssd and shift to a new laptop?

Parts-people.com is usually a good source but shows no stock of boards. Try EBay.

As ejn63 mentioned, Parts-People is the most reliable source of Dell parts. Unfortunately, they don't have stock for your motherboard. You could try eBay, Amazon, etc.

However, maybe you don't need one, since it sounds as though you want to abandon that laptop. If all you want to do is to "transfer data from its ssd and shift to a new laptop", you can do that without a new motherboard.

You could open up the laptop and remove the SSD. Connect the SSD to an external USB drive interface for M.2 drives, such as this one or this one. (Note: I'm not recommending those particular models, just showing you the sort of device that you need.) You will then be able to connect that to your new laptop and transfer all the data.

Dell Service Manual has detailed instructions on how to open the laptop and remove the SSD.

Look on YouTube for videos showing disassembly of your model. But, be cautious with them, as some use steps or methods that are not appropriate. Use the videos to add to your understanding of what to do, but follow the steps in Dell's manual.

Whenever touching components or working inside a computer, wear a grounded wrist strap, also called anti-static wrist strap, ESD wrist strap, or ground bracelet. I know many people do such work without this, but it's a cheap and sensible precaution. Rest the laptop on an anti-static mat or at least a reasonable alternative such as corrugated cardboard.

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I have done so by removing SSD and got an M2 adapter. I just have to give up on this laptop since motherboard is still unavailable and the available ones are either second hand or way too expensive. I have switched to Lenovo henceforth.

Make sure you cover the system for at least 3 years with a warranty this time -- you won't find Lenovo (or any other) replacement boards much more available than Dell's, nor will a replacement board be less expensive from them than it was for the Dell.
