Dell XPS 15 7590- laggy when power cable plugged in
Anyone have any idea why my XPS 7590 gets laggy when I plug in the power cable? Typing is laggy and words take time to type. Can also hear some crackling sound sometime. It is fine when I unplug the power cable. It's annoying.

@Chino de Oro looks like it is adapter issue. bought this a while back. was advertised as official dell power adapter. going to have to buy from dell website. These power cables are expensive, though!!

Has the system ever had a thorough internal cleaning and replacement of the thermal pads? If not, it's very likely overheating.

Verify in BIOS if the power adapter is recognized. If it wasn't, the processor would be downclocked, causing the performance be laggy.

Your laggy performance issue was caused by unrecognized power adapter. Replacing it and the issue will be resolved.

@Catface842130 I can report that i had the same problem and same solution on a dell 9520. I experienced the touchpad in particular being slow and laggy. A Genuine Dell Power Supply solved the issue
