Dell XPS 13 9360 touchpad stop working after a while
I have a problem with my XPS 13. I 've recently changed the motherboard due to a overheating problem (last January). After that, the touchpad starts working not properly: after 30 minutes of work, the pointer starts not following the finger movement, from time to time changing the finger it returns to work, also scrolling seems working from time to time. I bought the laptop with Ubuntu 16 on dell website, I updated to Ubuntu 18 and finally to 22, which is when it started having problems (after 6 months of the upgrade). I've already tried to reinstall Ubuntu and even change the linux distribution (now Mint 21.1). When the touchpad is not working, any USB mouse works properly.
If I reboot the system, it works just for a few minutes and it returns with the touchpad problem earlier.
I have all the latest BIOS, driver and PC updates over Dell Command software.
I'm a bit frustrated since I just changed the motherboard and battery and now I have a laptop that is difficult to use without a usb mouse, which is not handy in many cases.
Can someone please provide any info how to work this out?
Many thanks in advance.

Your original post is somewhat confusing as to timeline. If I understand correctly:
I would reopen the laptop to check that everything is properly connected and that nothing is loose. I would suspect that the touchpad might have been damaged, but it's odd that you say it works for 30 minutes after booting. Perhaps as the laptop heats up some part expands and affects the touchpad. Check everything carefully, especially the new battery.

Parts-People sells the Touchpad Sensor Module, though they are out of stock at the moment. You could email them to ask about future availability. Or, use that part number to search for other vendors.
If you're in the US, Parts-People offer a flat $100 labour fee, + cost of parts, to diagnose and repair a Dell laptop.
Whenever touching components or working inside a computer, wear a grounded wrist strap, also called anti-static wrist strap, ESD wrist strap, or ground bracelet. It's a cheap and sensible precaution. Rest the laptop on an anti-static mat or at least a reasonable alternative such as corrugated cardboard.

Your laptop is five or six years old. If that is the original battery, it is near end of life and failing. It may also be swelling, which can cause touchpad and keyboard issues. I recommend that you open the laptop to check the battery. If it is swelling even a little, you must remove it and safely dispose of it.
You may buy a genuine Dell battery direct from Dell or from Parts-People. (each of those links goes directly to the battery for your laptop model)

Many thanks for the prompt reply.
I've changed also the battery when I changed the motherboard, wearing ESD wrist wrap, sorry I forgot to put this important info in the first post.

It seems the problem is the new battery: when I remove it, the touchpad properly works.
I'll investigate more in depth which is the problem of the battery.
Many thanks for the suggestion.
