Dell XPS 13 9350 external monitor issues
XPS 13 9350
I just got a Samsung S30GD 27" FHD monitor and have it attached to my laptop via a HDMI connection to a Anker 553 USB-C hub. Initially things seemed to be working well, but shortly after setting it up the external monitor started disconnecting and reconnecting every 2-3 minutes. The disconnect only last a couple of seconds, but it still gets really annoying. The consistency of the issue leads me to believe that it's more than just a bad connection. I've tried changing the remote monitor to my main display via Windows Display settings and that doesn't have any effect. I downloaded the latest drivers and that didn't fix anything. Kind of out of ideas here. Could be the hub, but seeing as this model only has 2 thunderbolt ports there really isn't another option for me other than using a hub.

Does the same problem occur with the monitor directly attached to the system Thunderbolt port?

The monitor only has a HDMI & VGA port and I don't have a thunderbolt to HDMI connector. Also, like I said, I can't spare a thunderbolt port on my laptop. One for power and one for a hub. Otherwise, I'm left without any ports for peripherals.

That leaves two options:
Purchase a USB-C to HDMI cable to remove the hub from the loop for test purposes, or
If the hub came with a return period, return it in favor of a different model to try.
If the monitor works without the hub, it would confirm that's the issue.
