Hi, I believe it is easy to fix if it is not a HW issue. What settings do you have here? I would also recommend:
1) Download and start BlueScreenView. Share the result with us. It might be clear at this step what is going wrong with your system. 2) to select "Change settings that are currently unavailable," and uncheck "Turn on fast startup (recommended)" under shutdown settings 3) to disable USB selective suspend setting. To disable USB selective suspend in Windows, open the Control Panel, navigate to Power Options, click "Change plan settings" > "Change advanced power settings," expand USB settings, and set "USB selective suspend setting" to Disabled. This prevents Windows from turning off USB devices to save power. There are plenty of USB devices that don't really like to wake up after sleep
Thanks for that! I changed the settings to "do nothing" on closing the lid and it still crashed. I don;t have the "change settings currently unavailable" option (see screenshot). does this mean it is likely a hardware issue?
Re the USB suggestions - I assume they are to do with the webcam issue. This is a la[ptoip, the webcam is integrated. I rearely use the USBC ports other than for charging ...
I've downloaded a crash report here - is that what you are after?
1. Hi there. I have a Dell XPS 13 9315. A month ago it started crashing nearly every I close the lid, sometimes requiring me to use my recovery code to re-access the computer.
2. Around the same time the webcam stopped working.
1. The "Do Nothing" option on closing-the-lid should have fixed it if it was a problem with that or Sleeping.
2. But since it didn't (and you are also having this problem) sounds like the motherboard might be bad now. Sounds like maybe the motherboard is flexing and there is now a crack or short-circuit.
@JonWill70 oh true, your camera Parent Device is PCI and not USB. The reason you cant find what BUS the camera is sitting on due to a different VIEW. Device Manager -> View -> Devices By Connection. I also noticed that not all the drivers were installed on your system (Other devices). If you open Windows Updates section in Settings, can you check Advanced Options -> Optional Updates and install the rest of the drivers?
But still, this behavior forces me to think it is the cable which goes through the screen hinge like the issue described here (the issue)
Thanks all for the useful support - it does seem to be leaning towards a hardware issue. I've contacted Dell and will let you all know what the eventual diagnosis is ...

@JonWill70 Re USB ... That option doesn't exist for me in Advanced Power Settings:
And I can't find the webcam in the USB section of device manager:
But it seems to be there and working
TBH this is a less urgent problem than the crashing ... unless they are related!
