Dell XPS 13 9310 - display (backlit) turns off at 90 degrees

Hi, I have a Dell XPS 13 9310 and the display turns off when opened more than 90 degrees. It's only the LCD backlit part that turns off, because you can still see that the screen is active when you shine a bright light on it. Laptop stays working fine with a secondary screen as well.

I've opened it up and checked the display connectors but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong there.

When it's, say approx 80 degrees open - then just the slightest tilt on the screen will turn it off.

So it sounds more like a faulty cable or connector.
I haven't opened up the display itself - is it worthwhile doing this? Is there a separate cable or connector for the backlit part of the LCD ?
Sadly it has just gone out of its (extended) warrenty.
Thanks for any tips or directions to parts that might solve this.

The "90 degrees" isn't an exact number. Depending on where you hold the screen when tilting, it can be more or less. But for sure I cannot fully open it without it turning black.

Check the system end of the cable it may simply not be firmly connected.   If the cable itself is damaged though, the entire display assembly needs to be replaced.  It is one fused assembly that won't come apart without damage.
