Dell Support - Out of Stock?
I bought my first Dell laptop bundled with 3 year on site support which was great. I now need to replace my XPS 13. The following is what I found:
1) I can purchase a refurbished model in the US for about USD600 that includes a 12 month warrantee for the US only. This is a problem as I do not live in the US
2) The same refurbished model in South Africa works out to be more than double the US price. The import duties are 0 so I am unable to explain why I need to pay double.
3) On the Dell shop, I am unable to purchase any support for either as all the items related to support shows as Out of Stock?
Previously, Dell had a great model and I was happy to pay the premium for global support. Is this not available any longer? Is Dell shooting themselves in the foot? Shall I rather look elsewhere? Or is there someone who could assist me?

The cost of a system depends on where it is sold - - partly due to local market conditions and partly due to local laws regarding warranties.
You generally cannot extend a warranty beyond three years of the initial sale date -- though you can get up to four years on a brand new system..
You should be able to purchase extended support with a new system, but check with the local resellers (I don't think Dell has official sales/support itself in SA -- all is done through dealers).
