Connect XPS 15 9520 with an external monitor
XPS 15 9520
Hi experts,
I have a Dell XPS 15 9520 and it has both integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (4GB DDR6)
Due to work and entertainment purposes, I would like to connect my laptop to an external monitor, using a USB-C to Displayport.
I would like to possibly ask experts regarding the maximum resolution, aspect ratio and refresh rate that my laptop system can support, please.
To be honest, I aim to an ultrawide monitor, 3440x1440 144Hz 1ms response, so can I use the maximum capacity that this monitor offers?
Thank you very much

The system is capable of that external resolution -- that said, if you're planning to game with the system, you likely won't be pleased with the results. The entry-level 3050 GPU will fall flat with that resolution and refresh rate, and you may well run into thermal issues with the system as well.

@ejn63 Thank you for your response. If possible, I also would like to ask regarding the maximum resolution, aspect ratio and refresh rate that my laptop system can support, please.

There's a limit based on the Intel GPU. It can do 7680X4329 at 60 Hz (the Intel GPU controls the limits; the nVidia GPU is simply a coprocessor).
Practically speaking, you'll find the real limit quite a bit lower due to the system design -- it just won't handle driving a very high resolution monitor at high refresh without overheating and throttling.
