Charging Issue After BIOS Update on Dell XPS 15 9500

My Dell XPS 15 9500 laptop is experiencing charging issues after updating to the latest BIOS version 1.34. After entering sleep, hibernate, or shutdown mode, the laptop no longer recognizes the charger upon waking.

To make the charger work again, I have to press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, which is not a sustainable solution.

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

Thank you

Well you can try the following:

1. Do a Full Power Reset
2. Check the BIOS Settings
3. Reinstall Battery & Power Drivers
4. Update or Roll Back BIOS

@salazargc did this work.  I also updated my BIOS to 1.34 recently and started having this problem.  I noticed right now that if I plugin in the power with the computer shutdown the 'ac power' light on front of the laptop turns on.  However when it boots to windows it invariably turns off.  Also after charging to full power, it won't recognize the charger until I do a 30 second hard reset.

@habibalex it didn't work. I was on BIOS 1.32, 1.33, 1.26 and 1.35. None of them fixed the problem. Also, I have run the Diagnostic tool from DELL and am getting no errors. I don't know what to do at this point.

@salazargc how did you know the previous bios version you used?  I can check what I had installed before and hopefully rollback to fix.

Many people, including myself, have experienced this exact issue for years. Disabling Wifi and/or S3 sleep helps somewhat, but in my case, it only reduces the problem's frequency. Without WiFi and sleep support, a laptop is limited to use as a home PC replacement, requiring multiple dongles and constant charging. Yet the issue still occurs every now and then, so we have to wait for a fix from Dell...

@chodoneo the truth is that Dell won't or can't solve the issue.

My only working solution, after years of posts, attempts, deleted threads by admins, and other pointless wastes of time, was to switch to another laptop (from a different brand, of course).

Now I have a beautiful €3000 Dell paperweight.
