can't reload windows 11 on xps-13 9305
I believe my windows 11 could be corrupted. I have lost the ability to connect to wifi. Shows "no connections available". Have tried all the usual things - reset the network, reinstall the network adapter driver, nothing works. Have tried to download and install Windows update 24h repair file but it won't install.
So I have backed up my SSD and made a USB boot drive. Booted from the USB drive and first tried repairing Windows 11 which wouldn't install. Next tried installing a new copy of Windows 11. I got to the point where I had to select the drive to install on. Problem is Drive 0 is listed as 0 bytes and I can't select it. Using the command prompt I tried diskpart / list drive / select drive 0 / and clean but received another error message saying no Drive 0. However if I am in Windows I can see 4 drive 0's using Disk Management. Chkdsk /f/r runs and says all is good yet I cannot reinstall Windows 11 from either inside windows or from Support Assistant.
I question whether my SSD is corrupted but have not been able to find any software that tell me that. Was hoping a clean reinstall of the OS would fix this.
By the way, with the exception of no wifi the rest of Windows works just fine. I can get the internet using an ethernet connection so not all is lost. Any ideas?

Assuming you performed a clean Windows installation (F12 and selected to boot from USB), at the stage to select the drive for Windows, did it show multiple partitions from disk 0?
If you are wanting to solve the issue and willing to take a risk of replacing the SSD if the current SSD is erased and Windows installation failed, you can try to use Dell data wipe function from BIOS maintenance menu to see if it can reset the SSD to factory state (unallocated). Afterward, performing a clean Windows installation, not in-place installation.

Hi
My thoughts are ....
IS BitLocker still enabled on the SSD?
If so dis-able.
Try Gparted, contained within Linux Mint Live.... https://linuxmint.com/download.php
..................###############.....................
and the attached text file,which should be made a .BAT file after checking the code/text.
First of is 4 to see what devices are present (GETMAC), Then work thru from1.
If in doubt please ask.

Hi
Above is loose method for checking the checksum on a Linux Download, and will work should you need to verify the hash of your W11 download, IF microsoft has published it on it's website.

@Chino de Oro
Thank you for the reply. I created a boot disk on a usb drive and booted directly from that. Followed prompts to either repair or replace windows 11. Repair didn’t work so I tried replace. That is where I was shown a drive list with usb being #1 with correct bytes and ssd drive being #0 with 0 bytes and 0 bytes available. Following this I tried command prompt and the sequence I mentioned in earlier post. Said something like drive not available or recognized.
Again windows disk management shows drive 0 with 4 partitions and correct sizes.
not sure I want to risk my ssd at this time although crystal software says I only have 19% left.

@anne_droid
thank you for reply. I’m not sure I have the skills to do this.
