Camera not found

XPS 13 9340

XPS 13 9340

Hi,

My camera was working fine from the time I got my laptop (XPS13) until yesterday when I turned it on and couldn't use it on Slack/Teams etc. In Devices section it says no cameras found. I have uninstalled and reinstsalled & made sure all updates have been triggered. When I go to troubleshooting the camera doesn't appear in the list. I don't think there is a camera button that I could have switched off accidentally.

Any help would be appreciated

Have you tried running the diagnostics? If not, run them to see if it shows any issues.

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

Hi,

I faced a similar issue with my laptop camera. Here’s what helped me:

  1. Check Privacy Settings: Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and make sure camera access is enabled for apps.
  2. Device Manager: Open Device Manager, look for imaging devices, and see if the camera is listed. If it’s not, try scanning for hardware changes.
  3. BIOS Settings: Sometimes, the camera can be disabled in BIOS. Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (usually by pressing F2 or Delete during startup) to check the camera settings.
  4. Update Drivers: Even though you've reinstalled, try downloading the latest camera drivers directly from Dell’s website.

If none of these work, it might be a hardware issue. Contacting Dell support would be the next best step. Hope this helps!

Hi,

It sounds like you've tried a lot already. Here are a few quick checks:

  1. Device Manager: Ensure the camera is listed and update its driver if needed.
  2. Privacy Settings: Confirm that camera access is allowed for apps in Settings > Privacy > Camera.
  3. BIOS Settings: Check if the camera is enabled in BIOS.

If these steps don’t help, consider contacting Dell support for further assistance.
