BT mouse lagging on XPS 9365
XPS 13 9365 2-in-1
Hello,
Since I moved to Win11 (xps 9365 is not supported by Dell !!!!!!!!) I've continuosly experienced lag problems with the BT mouse. Basically whenever the mouse goes idle it takes up to 2 seconds before being responsive again. That makes it pretty much unusable. I researched here and there, upgraded BT drivers and windows but mouse keeps stuttering. That happens on both BT mice I have: a logitech and a HP. It seems that downgrading to W10 is the only possibility.
Thank you,
Davide

Yeah, my Aurora-R6 (with 7th Gen Intel processor) also works fine with Windows-11 ... it just needed a clean-install. The clue is that the TPM-2.0 (and everything else) passes the Windows-11 Ready-ness Check. Only the Intel i7-7700K fails (for NO GOOD REASON). Pretty lame but clean-install of Windows-11 Pro (64 bit) installs and works perfectly.
What you describe is an old problem from Windows-8 days.
Control Panel / Device Manager / Bluetooth Radio / Properties / Power Saving / tell it to stop powering down to save power.
You might have to do it to the mouse itself also, but IIRC ... it's just the BT radio device.

Dell did not test because there is a reason. Probably because there is a MS requirement that is not met on that model. Windows 10 will be supported for 3 more years.

Which version of the 9365 do you have, 7th or 8th Gen processor?
I can't test for you because I will not be putting my 7th Gen version into Win 11. Do other Bluetooth devices work normally? Is anything showing in the Task Manager which is using up processor time or otherwise keeping the system busy?

Thank you for your prompt reply. Yes it is a 7th gen i7. What I find weird though is that it seems like I'm the only one suffering this problem on this machine. I'm attaching a screenshot of my task manager.

You are using quite a bit of memory, which is mostly from Chrome but the Windows Desktop manager being 498 MB looks a little odd since mine, in Win 10, is showing 80 MB with just the Task Manager window open.
Since Modern Standby systems do not have a Power Management tab on the Wi-Fi, it might be hard to follow those instructions.
I have never run a Bluetooth mouse on this system since I use the PEN. My headphones seem to be working, but again, Win 10.
When you went to Win 11 did you make the registry changes Microsoft advises?
Maybe someone with your exact configuration will show up.
I do have another non-compliant system running Win 11 and it seems to be OK. You are running Win 11 22H2?

Performing a clean install did the job. To be honest upgrading from W10 to W11 has never been a breeze on this laptop that never worked right (sluggish, battery dies in minutes).

Thank you. As you advised I did a clean install of W11 and so far so good! Hope it will keep working.
