Battery replacement for Dell XPS15 9570
Hi,
I'm looking for a replacement battery for my dell XPS15 9570, I've looked on the website and apparently there are 2 options:
Both battery are resported on the website as interchangeable with the 6GTPY originally installed on the 9570, however the first one (GPM03) cost about 40$ more than the second (W62W6).
I've done some research and apparently the only difference is with the capacity:
- 8333mAh for the GPM03 (which is the same of the 6GTPY originally mounted)
- 8083mAh for the W62W6
Now, since I would gladly spare 40$ just for the additional 250mAh that the GPM03 offers, my question is: has anyone tried the W62W6 on the 9570?
If so, have you encounter any issue in terms of duration, lifespan, compatibility and so?
Thanks for the help.

The larger battery will work as long as you do not have a 2.5" SATA drive in the system. If you do, you will need to remove the SATA drive in order to install the 6-cell battery. The larger battery occupies the space needed for a 2.5" drive.

I don't, but this was not my question. My question was whether I can go with the "smaller one" (in terms of capacity) without encountering any compatibility issue.
I've noticed for example, that in Dell website from other country they don't alwasy list the "smaller one" (this for clarity: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-6-cell-97-wh-lithium-ion-replacement-battery-for-select-laptops/apd/w62w6/pc-accessories) as compatible with the xps15 9570, while in Dell US they do, so it's not clear to me.

It depends on the system configuration. If you have a fast i7 CPU, a screen with higher than 1024 (FHD) resolution or a discrete GPU in the system, I would not recommend the smaller battery -- in some cases, the system won't run on a 3 cell battery if it has high-drain components. Also bear in mind that whatever you saw with the 6-cell battery as far as runtimes will be cut in half with a 3-cell battery, regardless of the configuration.
If you have a FHD screen and an i5 CPU with integrated video, and are willing to live with half the battery life, the 3-cell may suit you. If you have a QHD screen, i7 CPU and discrete GPU -- you won't be happy with the 3-cell battery.
