XPS One 2720, help repairing or replacing?

I own a Dell XPS One 27 model 2720 which is now 10 years old, sadly it literally went with a "bang" back in April this year (2024) and I just want some advice if I should repair it - I think I need to start with the PSU unit which I've already removed, but this could also have affected the motherboard. I would actually consider purchasing a newer AIO from Dell, but they currently do not offer a touch screen 27" display one with more than Full HD (i.e. 1920 x 1080) - this is something I really want and use for photography reasons (I don't have space to run a secondary screen either).

Only you can decide on repair vs replace, but if the system is ten years old, it may give you pause to replace the mainboard with another one of similar age.  At minimum, you'll want to check inside the system to see what's damaged.

There are options in new systems other than all in ones -- in particular, the OptiPlex line is available in a micro size that can be mounted to the back of a monitor, out of sight.  You can then choose the monitor of your choice without being locked into what amounts to a supersize notebook computer without a battery.

wow when I search for AIO QHD on Amazon there are a lot of HP and Lenovo but not a single Dell present.  Dell is losing a niche market there.

if OP can get a cheap mobo replacement in case original mobo is bad go for it.  but do not spend too much on the repair of 10 yo pc

I use two old iMac 27" QHD from mid 2010 older than the XPS.  the screen display is still vivid.  No touch screen though.  OP can consider iMac too.

Do you really need an AIO? As suggested, a desktop would give you more options.

Check out Dell's 27" P2723QE with QHD 2560 x 1440 or 27" P2723QE with 4K UHD 3840 x 2160, assuming your budget allows.  Just make sure the GPU in any new PC supports QHD and/or 4K UHD.

I just got P2423D 24" QHD 2560 x 1440, and quite happy with it. My XPS 8930 has Dell OEM NVidia 1660 Ti and it handles the monitor at its "recommended" QHD settings. I don't do serious photo-editing, but I cleaned up annoying specs in some of my photos and QHD made it easy.

(BTW: Read this before you buy... )

I found a Dell desktop with i7 processor and an onboard UHD 770 graphics at Costco for $799. You can easily pair that with a 32" 4K monitor ($299 LG at Costco). I am a photographer and a photoshopper  and having a large 4K monitor is awesome!

I ran two 32 in monitors with my original 1050 ti card. It struggled  with lightroom and photoshop but worked.
