XPS 8960, using external ssd for storage, disadvantages?
My 8960 only has one ssd drive. Rather than installing a second ssd on motherboard, are there disadvantages to simply using an external ss drive in a case, other than speed?

Assuming it is a SATA SSD that should work fine. Try using an enclosure with either a USB 3 or USB-C ( if your system supports the C version). I use an external SSD and purely for storage it works just fine.
