XPS 8960, updating the Dell Recovery Partition?

If I understand correctly, the Dell Recovery Partition on my XPS 8960 will restore my computer to the way it was when it left the factory. Is there any reason why I would need to update this recovery partition?

I am inclined to answer 'no' - because nothing changes the way my computer was when it originally left the factory. Still, I want to be sure. Perhaps over time Dell adds something to improve the restore process.

If you're OK with restoring the factory image (and then having to reload everything you've added and restore your data), there is no need to update the partition.

If you'd rather keep a system image that can restore the desktop to its present condition, there are plenty of ways to do that -- and it's a great time-saver if a drive fails or an installation of Windows won't boot.

Thanks for your reply.

I actually image my computer every day.

I realize now that I asked wrong question! [embarrassed emoji]

The same recovery partition also contains the Dell hardware diagnostics. Does Dell update these diagnostics over time?
