XPS 8960, On/Off button illuminates
I took delivery of an XPS 8960 a few months ago. The pc is connected to a home UPS system. When I turn the UPS on, the on/off button on the XPS illuminates briefly. My old XPS 8930 didn't do that so just wondering if this is normal?
Thanks for your help and support.

It's perfectly normal. When you turn on the UPS, the PC thinks it's recovering from a power failure. So it briefly turns itself on to check to see how AC Recovery is set in BIOS.
If AC Recovery is set to off, PC shuts off immediately. If AC Recovery is on, there are probably options for what PC should do: (1) Always automatically boot to desktop when power is restored, regardless of whether PC was on or off when power failed ; (2) Boot to desktop if PC was on when power failed or (3) Go off if PC was off (but plugged into active outlet) when power failed.

I think if pc works fine you can disregard the on/off blink. 8960 and 8930 are completely different models in so many ways.

Thanks for your help - good to hear this is "normal".
AC Recovery is set to "Power Off" in BIOS setting.
Thanks again,

You're welcome.
You can actually use the AC Recovery settings to your advantage. I have it set in BIOS on my PC to boot automatically when recovering from a power failure. After I shut down normally in Windows, I turn my surge protector off at its own switch.
When I turn the surge protector on again, PC, monitor, speakers etc, all connected to the surge protector, power on with just a press of that one switch.

@RoHe Are you able to give me a step by step screen shot of how to set it to turn back on after a power failure? I went into the BIOS but can't find any power managements. I live in a rural area where the power goes out routinely. My UPS allows it to shut down safely but it will not restart. That's fine unless I need to work remotely.
