XPS 8960, onboard ethernet slows down all ethernet connections
We noticed that our Internet connection was running slow (300 instead of 500 down, 3 instead of 100 up). We have redundant Internet connections, so one is an Intel PCI-E card. Oddly, it didn't matter if we were only using the Internet via the Intel, if the onboard ethernet port was connected, the Internet was slow. We ended up turning off the onboard ethernet card in the bios and got a second Intel card. Everything is back running at full speed. More than a little unexpected. Just posting in case others run into the same issue.

Common issue with Killer Ethernet...
Did you try disabling all Killer services (and xTend services, if any) in services.msc? That Killer junk is aptly named because it kills Ethernet speed, especially upload speed, but you don't need any of it running.
You've solved the problem, but you can check this out, by re-enabling onboard Killer Ethernet in BIOS. Then boot to desktop and confirm Ethernet speeds are slow again.
Now click Start>Run>services.msc. When services.msc opens, scroll down the list and set the Startup type for every Killer (and xTend) service listed to Disabled. Reboot and test Ethernet speeds again. I'll bet speeds are "normal" again...
NOTE: If you go back to using onboard Killer Ethernet with all those services disabled, keep in mind that Windows Update can/will install Killer Ethernet updates (disguised as Intel updates) without warning, and they re-enable all those Killer/xTend services again.
So if speeds drop suddenly, especially after a recent Windows update, first thing to do is check that everything Killer/xTend is still disabled in services.msc.
