XPS 8960, loud hmmm noise

XPS 8960

XPS 8960

Just bought a new XPS 8960 on black Friday, and this one overall is great. But I keep hearing the noise from it. It is not loud but annoying, like hmmm sound. I contacted customer service, and they sent me a technician but the technician just said the sound was normal and pretty quiet. I am just wondering if is it normal or not. I have an Optiplex in my office, that one is completely quiet though.  I am a newbie to computer:(

Is it an electrical hum, a fan noise or is something just vibrating?

Appears you have "standard air cooling" with an i9 CPU, 64 GB of RAM and RTX4060 Ti, so all the fans (CPU, GPU, chassis fans) may have to run faster and more frequently to dissipate all the heat.

There are some threads about noisy PSUs in XPS 8960, so read some of those...

I just got mine and it has a slight whine to it. My 10 year old XPS never whined.

@Ambroziaweb - Which CPU do you have and do you have 65W or 125W air cooling or 125W liquid cooling?

Air cooled. Not sure of the watts on that but its the 460 watts for power.

@Ambroziaweb - Since you just got this PC, maybe you should contact Dell Tech Support for assistance under the warranty.
