Do you have the latest BIOS that's for your 8960?

Is Corsair reporting the XMP (overclocked) speed for their RAM, while its base speed is really only 4800?
Read this for a discussion of enabling XMP RAM, but I don't see any XMP RAM options listed in BIOS setup in the XPS 8960 service manual. Double-check in BIOS setup on your system with its i9 CPU.
If no XMP options are listed in BIOS on your PC, and 5600 is Corsair's XMP speed, the best you can get is 4800.

I don't see XMP in the BIOS. Dell's specifications say with a i9 14900k that the ram used is 5600MHz.

Does anybody have a XPS 8960 with a I9 14900K cpu and 64K of the 5600MHz DDR5 ram ? Is your BIOS 2.11.0 ?

Just because they install 5600 RAM doesn't necessarily mean it will run at 5600. In the past they've installed faster RAM than a PC model can actually use.
And as you saw in the other thread where you posted about this, others aren't getting 5600 MHz either with an i9 CPU.
Some if it might come down to RAM compatibility. Dell PCs can be very fussy about RAM. So even if the RAM is rated at 5600, it still may not run at that speed because of some (Corsair) RAM spec that the motherboard doesn't like.
One of the users in that thread said they're getting 5200 with Crucial RAM so compare specs of that RAM with Corsair's specs and see what's different.

The 4800mhz ram that came with the 8960 is also Corsair Vengeance ddr5

What does that have to do with anything?
Even if their 4800 MHz RAM was running at 4800, that doesn't automatically mean their 5600 MHz RAM will run at 5600, especially since there are no XMP options in XPS 8960 BIOS setup.
You might want to contact Corsair tech support to see if they have any recommendations...

While it's nice to want the fastest ram, it's really not a big deal in practical terms.
Most users would not notice.
4800 Mhz is what the 8960 specs state so maybe an Alienware Aurora R16 would have been a better choice?
It does run RAM a little bit faster.

Actually, XPS 8960 specs list RAM configs for both 4800 and 5600 MHz RAM, with the note that 5600 is only available with a 14th Gen CPU. So it's not obvious why users aren't getting 5600, unless the after-market 5600 MHz RAM isn't fully compatible and/or requires an XMP profile in BIOS, which the XPS 8960 doesn't have.
The XPS 8960 FAQs say the RAM Dell validated in XPS 8960 is all only 4800 MHz.
I pinged my Dell contacts...

Hey I just got an 8960 with a i7-14700. Added 2x32gb 6400 DDR5 ram. And it is showing frequency at 4800.
What is going on? I bought the ram based on the listed specs--exactly as you copied. It says 5600 is "only available" on 14th gen intel processors. Well I bought one. So I spent the money on the 5600 capable sticks.
Any word on what's going on? I'm not happy

What memory exactly is this because as noted above, depending on the Memory....it can run @ 4800 or 5600.

If you are still getting 4800mhz, you probably have ECC RAM (I did at first).
To get the faster clock you need the non ECC Ram (PC5-44800)

@Element115s4 thanks for reply. I bought this:
https://www.newegg.com/patriot-memory-64gb-ddr5-6400/p/N82E16820225335?item=N82E16820225335&utm_source=transactional&utm_medium=email&cm_mmc=TEMC-Carrier-Transit-Delay-_-N82E16820225335-_-003496&utm_campaign=TEMC-Carrier-Transit-Delay-_-N82E16820225335-_-003496
I installed the latest Bios as well. I just don't know what the stock ram was running at (just don't remember) but it could be that with 2x32gb the motherboard throttles it back.
I don't know if a big deal but feel bad paying for 6400 DDR5 when could have gotten the cheaper 4800.
