XPS 8960, cannot locate system files
XPS 8960
Hello,
At first boot, I get this error. I use the Ctr-Alt-Del keys a few time, let it rest, the system will start booting. This issue just started yesterday morning. What will be the solution to this issue?
Cheers

. . . by the way, I have four drives in this system.
Also, why are my drives not laid our accordingly? I would thing the OS drive would be Disk 0. It's been like that since I got this system and added more drives accordingly. The main OS drive was in it's original location.

Did you do a BIOS update right before this started happening. What version of BIOS is installed?
OS drive C: doesn't have be disk 0. It can be any disk number as long as Windows Boot Manager is first on the boot list in BIOS setup, as it should be. Z(On my XPS, disk 0 is a HDD, my D: (data) drive and disk 1 is an SSD, the boot C: drive.
If you disconnect all drives, except the boot drive (disk 2), will it boot now?
The error message is complaining about disk 4, but you don't have a disk 4 listed. Open a CMD prompt window. At the prompt, type in diskpart and press Enter. When diskpart opens, type in list disk and press Enter. See if it lists a disk 4.
