XPS 8960, 1 week old, No sound input detected by Apps
I am unable to record sound on Windows Sound recorder app or in Adobe Audition. In both cases no input device can be found. This is a change from my old Win 10 machine where i had no bother. I have reinstalled the realtek driver but to to avail and have also changed every sound configuration i know of in Win 11 sound settings. I think it's time to start all over again. Any suggestions please.

Are you recording sound using a mic or audio that's playing in a vid or audio file?
If using the mic, where is it plugged into PC? Did you enable it on the Windows Sound screen and give your apps permission to use it?
Keep in mind this PC uses Waves MaxxAudio Pro as audio controller. Is it loading at every boot? You may need to configure it for your setup. Or -perhaps- stop Waves from loading at boot because it may be interfering with the apps you're trying to use...

Thankyou for your reply. No mike involved. I'm getting lost already.
I shouldn't be having to do this as there was no problem with my previous dell PC. This latest generation of XPS is supposed to represent an improvement to previous models but I now find I cant do things I used to able to do with my Win 10, 9year old machine. Some improvement!
I was hoping that all I needed to was change a setting or two but it seems not. I will contact Dell support and if they can't sort this out then back the machine goes.

Did you disable Waves so it can't run at boot?
Have you tried using the Microsoft audio driver instead of Realtek Audio?
Are you using sound over HDMI?

All sorted with the help of Dell and a driver update. Thanks to all
