XPS 8950, Windows 11, USB, recording stops every few seconds
Cannot record audio from USB without flatlining every few seconds =
I'm trying to record audio from a USB cassette player and USB turntable using Sound Recorder and Audacity. It will record the signal for a few seconds and then flatline for 3-10 seconds. Repeat. I tried all the different USB ports with same results. The silence does not come from the USB player, it's all one music track. Any advice?

You are apparently getting dropouts. Some app is likely running and causing the dropouts.
Apps such as Dell Support Assist is one, some Antivirus is another.
Download and run the free Resplendence Latency Mon to see what could be causing it.

Lots of possible reasons for audio dropouts while recording...
You might try using Resplendence LatencyMon (free) to see if it can help identify the cause.
Read this from Dell and there are lots of other discussions about audio dropouts in Win 10/11 on the net, with varying suggestions to try to resolve this...

Thank you. I will check that out.
One thing I figured out is that the dropouts are actually very low white noise. I have another forum thread about this in the Audacity Community, https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/cannot-record-from-usb-without-flatlining-every-10-seconds/94129/9
