XPS 8950, graphics card has died

I have been buying Dell since 2001 and bought XPS 8950. Within 7 months the motherboard had to be replaced. Now out of warranty the graphics card has died. The quality has definitely gone down hill. This will be my last product from Dell, spent $3480.

How do you know "...the graphics card has died..."?  And, exactly which graphics card?  If you provide more info about the failure, maybe somebody here can help you troubleshoot things.

BTW:  You could always purchase one of Dell's extended warranties to cover repairs.

Or, if you purchased this PC using a credit card, check with the card's issuer to see if it offers any extended warranty coverage. My card offers extra warranty coverage within the first year after the manufacturer's warranty expires, for things bought with the card. It will cover repair costs when the charge is paid with the same card, or to buy an identical replacement item if the original can't be fixed...

@RoHe I did the Graphics Stress test provided by Dell, it fails every time. When I play YouTube, I can hear but cannot see anything on the screen.Any rendering done in Blender kills the Graphics. I have re installed Windows 11 without updates, taken the Graphics Card driver two versions back none of these have worked. The card is Nvidia RTX 3080.

I would have thought the computer would have  lasted a little longer before getting repaired, so now I have to pay out of pocket. I have a Dell XPS9100 that I bought back in 2010, still going strong

The monitor is connected to the add-in card, not to the onboard Intel Graphics DP++ port, correct?

Can you test this monitor and its cable on a different PC or a different monitor and its cable on this PC?

What type output port are you using on the video card and on monitor? Assuming monitor works ok, can you try different output port on video card and on monitor?

Have you tried re-seating the NVidia card in the x16 slot?

If you physically remove the NVidia card, does PC work correctly using the onboard Intel Graphics DP++ port? If monitor doesn't have a DP input,  the onboard DP++ port will automatically provide an HDMI (or a DVI) signal, if you use a passive adapter, eg, DP++>HDMI passive adapter.  You don't want an active DP>HDMI adapter which has a chip to convert the signal, because that won't work for you.

Not recommending any specific passive DP++(PC)>HDMI(monitor) adapters, but here's one to look at and compare with similar passive adapters.

Did you check with your credit card to see if they offer any (free) warranty extension coverage?

@RoHe I have checked the monitor on another PC and I have changed the the cable also. The Display port is being used currently. I will try the HDMI port. I have reset the Card, no change. I will be calling the credit card company to see if they will cover the repair.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

Did you test PC with video card totally removed, by connecting monitor to the onboard DP++ port? That could tell you if the problem is with the video card itself or something else....

I think the consensus is that the 8950 is a solid product.

No doubt, there can be a % of lemons with any product.
