XPS 8950, fan noise is intermittant and very loud
Unfortunately Dell has let us all down by supplying inferior hardward. The fan unit is a problem for a lot of people now.
It seems to start rattling just after the warranty expires!

If it is the small fan in 8950/8960 psu yes it is known. there is a way to replace the fan if user is handy. Dell has not improved QC on these server type psu fans.

The PSU fan is making a racket. You cannot work with this noise near you. Will Dell assist?
