XPS 8950, Crucial 2x32GB Pro DDR5 5600MHz/6000MHz, memory not recognized error

I have the XPS 8950 i7-12700 model ordered with (2) 8GB sticks in 1&2 slots. I purchased the Crucial 64GB kit of (2) 32GB Pro DDR5 5600Mhz and I get the memory not recognized error. Tried reseating and battery reset to no avail. When I re-install the two 8GB sticks that came with the unit in 1 &2 slot, it boots up error free. Had the same problem with a pair at 6000Mhz which I returned for refund and replaced with the 5600 sticks. Any suggetions?

Return the RAM in favor of DDR5-4800, which is the fastest the CPU you have can run RAM.  There are reports in the Dell forums and elsewhere about this model system not working with RAM that has a higher speed rating.

@ejn63 Thank you. Apparently this IS the solution. I had incorrectly thought that the speed would not be an issue and that the RAM would be "backward compatible". I have since ordered the 4800 speed RAM in hopes this will prove successful.

Make sure it's 'Certified' Crucial XPS 8950 memory.
