XPS 8950, cpu fan error automatic shutdown
When I turned the computer on, I got a CPU fan error on the PC's boot that took me to diagnostics. After about one minute of the PC being on, whether I run the diagnostics or not, it automatically shuts down. The CPU fan runs at maximum speed. Can you tell me what parts I need. I also believe it is water cooled. I may need a heatsink assembly and/or fan.

We would like to order the part and install ourselves. We believe it to be the water pump. It is important to note that this all happened over a windows update. It might be out of date firmware?

XPS 8950 has a basic pancake air cooler and a premium tower air cooler.

This is not due to a bad cpu fan b/c as OP observed the fan is able to rev at max speed. More likely due to CMOs corruption. Replace CMOs battery w a new one followed by clear CMOs (RTC reset:
hold the power button for 30 seconds.)
