XPS 8940, stuttering when playing a video, a game or listening to music
XPS 8940
My computer boots normally however when playing a video, a game or listening to music it will disrupt the program playing sound like a loud grrrr making the program stutter for a few seconds before going on for a minute or two until it happens again. I don't remember it happening when I got it more seems like it started last year sometime. Before my warranty ran out I opened an issue thinking it was my SSD. Very annoying. Anyone have a fix?
Thank you
Mike

I changed the Title to included XPS8940 so others would know which model this pertains too.
I get something similar, but just randomly.
I am 99% sure it is related to the Nvidia HD sound driver... as this varies from Nvidia driver to driver install.
I you have an Nvidia card, this might be the reason, especially if it just started on a machine a few years old?
You can check if you have them in Device Manager, under Sound, video and game controllers.
I should add, the 2 Nvidia Sound items in above device info were dated Nov. last year, seems to match about when you think it started?
