XPS 8940, Docking Station missing
I have a 2 year old Dell XPS 8940. I use a standard docking station to hook up old hard drives that store data. Never any issue. Had not used in a few weeks, so not sure what happened. All of a sudden it does not show on my "This PC". If it does, it seems to come and go. If it does stay, and I go to enter the drive. I do see the folders. But if I click on one, I get "Working On It'..." and nothing happens. I do not see any yellow exclamation point or similiar in the device manager. I have tried different ports, and I just got a new docking station delivered. Same result. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

are you using USB 2 or 3 of 8940 for docking station?
some users suggest use a USB 3 hub (Sabrent) between PC and dock, or try use USB 2 if you do not care about slower speed with old hdd.

@redxps630
The Sabrnet USB 3.0 is what I got from Amazon today. It seems to be working...although a bit glitchy at first. Maybe it take awhile for all the hard drive info to initially load? And then gets recognized later somehow. We will see how it keeps functioning. Thanks!

@redxps630 I didn't realize you used the word hub. Which I guess is different than a docking station. That's something that has to go in between to some convert the signal or something? I'll have to look into that. Thank you!
