XPS 8940, cautionary tale of installing the new BIOS V2.25.0
I got email about the new BIOS, and I wanted to go to the Support Site so I could READ all the INFO on the update before installing.
I let the Support page SCAN for updates, it said I needed to D/L Support Assist, but I already had S.A. 4.6.3 installed. So I opened that on the PC and ran UPDATE and it found no updates?
So I allowed the Support Page to d/l S.A. and immediately and I selected D/L, the scan started WITHOUT me installing S.A. Didn't matter, it found nothing.
So I used FIND DRIVERS, changed to W11, and selected 7 Days and there was the BIOS update.
Read the info and it sort of implied only 3 Dell Security Advisor updates included. Checked the DSA link and of course, ONLY 1 showed in the list?
Installed the update and only a few components of the BIOS were updated from the prior BIOS release V2.24.1. Both were BIOS CONNECT, Payload, and the Version number.
Installed and see know change in operation.
You might hit the same hiccups, but you can get it installed like I did.

SupportAssist database always lags behind what's new/available on the Support site for the PC model. Sometimes even Windows Update will offer an update before SupportAssist finds it.
The DSA database typically doesn't include all DSAs listed on a BIOS update page. Been an ongoing issue, like forever...

@RoHe, I knew that S.A. lagged behind, as did Dell Update. The oddity was that I was told that S.A. had to be installed, but the same version already was.
Actually, I did report it to 'my' contact, and then realized it was NOT installed but it appears the Dell Support Assist worker was what it did install. Just the fact that I DID d/l S.A., then the search continued.
Still, it is still a problem if Dell doesn't propagate the info to everywhere it is needed.
