XPS 8930, upload speed slow
In the last month I have noticed that my upload speed has been very limited.
Normally I get about 27Mb download and 6Mb upload.
Now my upload is about 0.3Mb
My investigation has concluded that it is due to Killer Network Service. If I disable this via msconfig selective start-up normal performance is restored.
I had tried a clean install of the Killer performance suite but that did not resolve the problem. I have now done an uninstall of the Killer performance suite and it is working fine.
There are lots of articles in the community that say disable or uninstall Killer Network Service for various performance reasons.
I am just curious to understand what has changed in the last month to cause this issue? I understand from other posts that it is likely that the Killer Suite will automatically reinstall itself at some point and I will have to disable it again.
Is there a way to uninstall the Killer Suite and not get it auto reinstalled?

1. Good.
2. Windows-Update should not reinstall it. Dell Support-Assist and/or Dell Update might, but not WU.
I would just leave it uninstalled.
If for some reason it must be installed, you can usually just disable or nullify the 4-5 advanced features and that should render it harmless (I've written-up that procedure a couple of times now).

These methods may help and kudos to @Tatolino for this information.
"Type Advanced system settings in Start, open it, select the Hardware tab > Device Installation Settings > select NO."
Also
Otherwise gpedit.msc, expand Computer Configuration > Admin Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Manage Updates offered by Windows Update > modify the rule Do not include drivers with WU.

Thanks for the tips. At the moment I am fine with Killer network service uninstalled. I will try out your suggestions in the near future.

As you thought I am not keen to install it again just to then have to uninstall it.
Regarding Killer CC I had already looked there and it was not being throttled back by the CC. But thanks for the tip.

Had the same issue. Trying to figure out what the issue was ended up causing the computer to crash - Trying to "restore" it caused much grief. After many attempts, finally got it to boot up to Win10 -- and finally figured out that -
"Killer-PCIe-Ethernet-Controller-Driver_RWTJJ_WIN_33.22.1182_A50.EXE" was at fault. I was able to "Uninstall" the "program" and the upload speed returned to normal.
Sorry that I didn't check with this forum first!!! After I figured out what the problem was, I tried to tell DELL - however, since my XPS 8930 is out of warranty they wanted me to pay to speak to someone to tell them what THEIR ISSUE IS.

I am having the same problem. I have an XPS 8930 with Mediacom 600 cable internet. I checked my speed a couple weeks ago and found I had around 800Mbps down but my upload speed was throttle back to about 2-3Mbps. So I found this forum and read the comments and first opened the Killer control panel and turned the upload speed manager off. This fixed the problem. However after I shut the computer down and restarted it the next day, the problem had returned and the upload manager was turned back ON, by itself. So once again I shut it off, uploads back to good, which is around 40Mbps, but, just like last time the Killer control turned it back on, by itself. So I uninstalled the Killer control and again, my upload speeds returned to normal, until, I shut the computer off and restarted it the next day and once again, the upload speeds are throttle down to 2-3Mbps, WITHOUT the Killer control panel even installed, and I am at a complete lose WHY. Anyone have any ideas?

HI,
I had the same problem and solved it by turning off the bandwidth manager in Killer Networking Center, and then disabled it's startup in Windows task manager.
As I am not a gamer, I really do not have a need for the Killer app, but I will leave it installed, but inactive, until I discover a way around things with Killer uninstalled.

Whelp, I had fixed it by uninstalling the Killer services. Yesterday I had windows updates applied- rebooted this morning- and upload is severely degraded again. I'm done with this onboard network card. I just bought a PCIe 2.5Gb card I'm going to install and I will disable the onboard "Killer" controller. Sad.

So I've been running for a couple hours of my newly installed PCIe network card (with the Killer card disabled). And...it's like a new PC. A lot of little issues that I've been blaming Chrome for are now all GONE. Speedy as anything. Invest in a $20 ethernet card and install it. It took me all of 15 minutes, and it's SO SO much better. If I had only realized this a year ago when Chrome started getting wonky...

I had this same problem with my 8930, started about a month or two ago. Troubleshooted it with Microsoft's great article. I was able to get rid of the issue by disabling "Killer Network Service" with the msconfig tool. (This was the last piece of their advise.) So basically,
- In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
- On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, then find "Killer Network Service" and uncheck the box to disable it.'
- Boot your computer and test
Got my upload speeds back from 0.3Mbps to 800Mbps range

It seems a recent MS update did this. I found turning off the prioritization engine in the Killer software fixed it.

You can just go to Start>Run>services.msc and change the Startup type for every Killer service (and any xTend service) listed to Disabled. Exit services.msc and reboot...done!
This is all Intel's fault. (They own Killer now.) And these problems happen every time Windows Update force-installs a Killer update, disguised as an Intel update...
