XPS 8930, upgrade assistance - 73 YEAR OLD NEEDS HELP
I have a Dell XPS 8930, (factory stock) with an 8 Gen Intel i7 8700 6 Core, (12 MB Cache up to 4.6 GHZ). with a 1TB HDD drive. I would like to upgrade this to a PCIe SSD drive. Can you tell me if this type of drive would be compatible with my system? Would I also need to buy an adaptors, connectors, wires or something in addition?
I also plan to upgrade the RAM to 64GB total using all 4 slots.
I am 73 years old and I am trying to keep up with the current tech.
Thanks for your understanding and the assistance,
Doug Ogrin

There is one slot for an M.2 2280 NVMe (or SATA, but these are both slower and more expensive being obsolete now) drive.
Make sure the standoff and mounting screw required are both present in the system. If not, you'll need to order those (they usually do not come with the drive).

Yes, your Dell XPS 8930 can use a PCIe NVMe SSD it should fit right into the M.2 slot on your motherboard, no extra wires or adapters needed. Upgrading to 64GB RAM is also possible. You're on the right path keep it up.
