XPS 8930, start up power issue

XPS 8930

XPS 8930

My XPS 8930 has recently stopped responding to the power button (upper left) after it is shut down. The work-around has been to press the reset button on the back of the desktop while pressing the front power button. To avoid this, I have been leaving the PC run 24/7. However, due to recent utility enforced power outages in Southern California, this becoming a problem as the desktop is plugged into a UPS but that's only good for an hour of power and unfortunately, the power outages are usually for a minimum of 24 hours.

I am wondering if anyone else with this model has experienced a similar power up issue and if so, how can it be resolved?

Re:  if anyone else with this model has experienced a similar power up issue

it has been reported on various dell desktop models.

try replace cmos battery w a new one

then

clear cmos settings by CMOS CLR jumper on motherboard.
